What Is a Combination System?

In building fire protection, a Combination System refers to a piping network that provides both:

1. Standpipe Service – water for hose connections used by firefighters.

2. Automatic Sprinkler Service – water distributed to sprinkler heads for fire suppression.

Instead of two separate risers, a combination standpipe & sprinkler system shares the same vertical piping. This design saves space, reduces costs, and ensures a reliable supply of water for both systems during an emergency.
